Final updates and more simplified experience coming soon in Spring 2026.
3 Steps: Set up (and share) a Meraki MX for dCloud Use
Because Meraki MX devices have zero touch configuration, setting up your Meraki router for dCloud is simple and straightforward:
1. Connect the router to the Internet and add it to dCloud.
Add the device for dCloud use only once for each Meraki MX. The Meraki MX configuration will be dynamically added at Session Start and removed at Session End. The Meraki MX will automatically connect to any session to which you add it.
Results: The Meraki device self-configures and self-updates, making maintenance easy. Your Meraki MX:
- is dynamically added and removed at session start and session end.
- connects automatically to any session to which you add it.
You do not need to perform any additional actions to start the IPSec VPN tunnel that connects the session and Meraki MX. It can take up to 5 minutes after the session becomes active for the VPN tunnel and session/router connection to be fully operational.
Step 2. To include your Meraki MX in a dCloud session: Select it when you schedule your session and/or add the Meraki MX to an active session. The connection automatically initiates when you do either of the following:
- Connect your laptop to the router using a wired or wireless connection and initiate traffic to the virtual machines in an active dCloud session.
- Connect an IP phone, a video conferencing device, or another device to the router's switch ports.
Step 3. (Optional) You can share your MX with other dCloud users. Added users can then include your MX in a dCloud session if is not in use by you or others with whom you have shared it.
For the list of supported (tested and verified) Meraki routers, see Supported Meraki Routers. Because Meraki routers update themselves, some may not yet appear on the list. To request that one be tested, verified, and added to the list, please contact dCloud Support.
Recommended (Supported) Routers & Endpoints to Use with dCloud
For Meraki MX appliances: Add the device for dCloud use only once for each Meraki MX. The Meraki MX configuration will be dynamically added and removed at session start and session end, respectively. The Meraki MX will connect automatically to any session to which you add it.
